There are so many things to love about being queer/LGBTQ. Chosen families, Pride celebrations, and drag races are just some of those amazing things. And over the last few years, we’ve made strides in legislation, policies, and court cases. But things aren’t perfect and there’s still so much work left to do. WNYC’s Nancy released a series in March of 2019 about queer money and the obstacles that queer folks face with money, our own financial situations, and the economy.
‘Queer Money Matters’ is a five-part series that covers issues like family planning, health care, retirement, marriage, and careers. Kathy and Tobin talk to financial planners, couples trying to grow their family, trans folks trying to get gender-affirming health care/surgeries, queer elders, and so many others about all the fears and struggles of being queer and dealing with money.
Each episode is about 15-25 minutes long but they’re all filled with information, interviews, and the creative ways queer/LGBTQ folks have overcome different financial obstacles. The entire series is available in the Nancy feed wherever you find podcasts and is a great listen for anyone, regardless of your sexuality or gender.
